Titanic Experience Cobh is an ideal school tours venue located in the heart of Cobh Town. Located in the original White Star Line building, we bring to life the story of the last 123 passengers who boarded Titanic from Queenstown (now Cobh). With a guided tour, immersive audio visual presentations, cabin reconstuctions and exhibits, we aim to engage students and deliver a memorable experience. Worksheets and student quiz sheets are available on request.
In addition to Titanic Experience, we offer a selection of combined packages with school tour providers in Cobh and surrounding areas. Check out our Schools Packages page for more information.
What to Expect
When you arrive, check-in with us at reception. Upon check-in you will receive your boarding card. Your boarding card will have the details of one of the 123 passengers who came to the White Star Line Ticket Office on Thursday April 11th 1912. These were the final passengers to join Titanic at her last port of call in Queenstown, Ireland.
Our tour guides will take you on a virtual journey to board the tenders and join Titanic for her maiden voyage to New York.
Along the way you will view the original pier (Heartbreak Pier), which was the last point of land contact for the Queenstown passengers.
We will immerse you in life aboard Titanic and tell you a little about the conditions on board for third and first class passengers.
When disaster strikes you will experience the chill of the sinking in a unique cinematographic experience.
The guided element of our tour lasts 30 minutes after which you will be free to explore our exhibition room. Our exhibition room has a collection of audio visual and story boards exploring the events that led to the tragic sinking, the role of RMS Carpathia in the rescue of the survivors, the outcome of the formal British and US enquiries into the tragedy, the discovery of the wreck and more.
The final element of our experience is the story room where you will learn the fate of your passenger and all the Queenstown passengers. We also feature a selection of interesting artefacts from Carpathia, The Odell Family Collection and some original serving pieces from the White Star Line fleet of the early 20th century.
The tour will take approximately 1 hour.
The tour ends in the Titanic Experience shop which carries Titanic pencils, pens, magnets and rulers, as well as Titanic related books and gifts.
The price for school groups is €5 per child (normal child rate €5.50). We invite teachers and accompanying adults free of charge.
